  • We "adopted" Spookie on April 5, 1996. She weighed in at a hefty 7 1/2 ounces and our vet estimated that she was about 1 month old.

Spookie was a very active girl. She ran laps around her room over and over again, and did some pretty spectacular popcorn jumps. Sometimes she jumped straight up and when she landed she's was facing the opposite direction. My favorite was when she jumped straight up and shook her head and body while she was in the air. She got most "jumpy" around meal time. She must have been either very excited or trying to work up her appetite for that big carrot. Jumping and whistling for your hay, pellets, and veggies could sure wear you out!

It never failed: when anyone opened our refrigerator door, Spookie would squeak and squeak, waiting eagerly for her next piece of juicy lettuce. No matter how quietly you tried to open the door, Spookie would hear it and squeak.

Spookie had a unique lovable personality, and definately knew what she liked and didn't like. She didn't like primping and was not particularly fond hair brushing, getting a pedicure, or the occasional bath.

She loved to be out and about, exploring dark and tiny places. She was good at hiding, and evaded a sitter for over 3 hours once, after coming out of her room to get some exercise.

    Spookie at 2 years!!
